Tumors of the Eyelids. These little tumors occasion no pain, but are the source of considerable annoyance to the person's vanity. They often occur in groups - two or three of them being found near together on the same lid. They may sometimes attain such a size as to interfere with the movement of the lid, and to prevent the eye from opening to its full extent. These feel to the finger like small shot under the skin. Sometimes they are soft, and at other times quite hard, so that the patient is inclined to be anxious in regard to them. These tumors grow very slowly, and may last for several years. These masses are merely collections of matter in the follicles which surround the eyelashes. They are, therefore, essentially of the same nature as wens on the head. Treatment.-There is but one way to get rid of these little tumors, and that is to open them and remove their contents. This will scarcely be undertaken by any one but a surgeon, since it is unsafe for an unskilled hand to bring a knife into the vicinity of the eye. The operation is a trivial one, and the cut can be made from the under surface of the lid, so that no scar will be visible. It will be therefore advisable for any one to whom the personal appearance is a matter of importance to have these little bodies removed.
