Enlargement of the Uvula.

Enlargement of the Uvula: The uvula is the name applied to the projection from the soft palate which hangs into the throat, and can readily be seen when the mouth is open. It sometimes happens that this organ becomes enlarged to such an extent as to touch the top of the larynx. In this case it causes a constant irritation and tendency to cough.

If it be ascertained that the enlargement of the uvula is such as to cause the patient serious annoyance, it should be cut off at about the middle, so that it shall no longer cause a tickling of the larynx.
